I leave for Istanbul, Turkey tomorrow, where I’ll be speaking at Özgür Yazılım ve Açık Kaynak Günleri (“Free Software and Open Source Days”) 2004. If you’re a Debian or free software developer in the Istanbul area, I’d love to meet you!
One of the best parts of my job is meeting people from around the world who view free/open-source software as not just software without cost or something fun to do in their spare time, but rather as a way of changing the world.
I look forward to meeting many more of you in the coming days.
Good news. :)
“free/open-source software is not just software without cost or something fun to do in their spare time, but rather as a way of changing the world.”
This is just what I think. I love the spirit of open-source. It is very humanistic that we can`t find much nowadays.
Thanks for Debian. I can’t make it to the talk, but please do post a trip report. I would like to organize a Lisp conference here within the next few years and if your experience is positive it would be neat to point people to a URL. (BTW, if I succeed, it might give my fellow Turks a chance to listen to the other side of the story by Kent Pitman!).
