Following time-honored tradition, “DCC” is now a recursive acronym that stands for “DCC Common Core”. Importantly, “DCC” no longer stands for “Debian Common Core”, and we’ve updated the FAQ accordingly. If you see further references to “Debian Common Core” in the press, feel free to send them a link to this page or ask them to contact me.
Why are we doing this? The DCC is a truly important initiative for Debian, and we don’t want continued controversy over what we chose to call it to overshadow the real message of the DCC, namely that Debian is ready for enterprise use.
In related news, we’re in the process of trying to make the DCC (or at least the technical aspects of it) an official Debian subproject—see the debian-enterprise Alioth project if you’re interested in Debian in the enterprise and want to get involved.
Ian-
How, if at all, does this relate to the previous Debian Enterprise project at http://debian-enterprise.org (as mentioned recently by Steve Kemp at http://blog.steve.org.uk/index.php/archives/2005/09/25/debian-enterprise/)?
Thanks for any clarification you can provide.
Eric
Hey, that seems like a good idea. ;-)
Hello,
Very good try to be a Debian subproject.
This will not fork efforts more than needed and leverage the whole group, reducing risks and costs. (see Debian X Ubuntu fork woes)

Andre Felipe

Your spiral is like a magnet that charms my soul into your distro. When i saw it, some part of my destiny unfolded…and like a spiral, i returned from where i came, but only im now on the outer ring. I am for sooo long, a Windows slave…and for so long i have been asleep…i am soo sorry. But now, i have awakened into the sunshine of a new dawn. It’s like a scroll unfolded before my eyes a philosophy, it flash before me images of all those people who are fighint for the same cause…for freedom and for enlightenment. We will keep in touch all…
Eric,
It’s unrelated. As far as I can tell, that project is inactive and has been for some time.
