Wil Wheaton: "Why do you think so many Americans are turning to the BBC or Guardian UK for news about our country? It’s not because we hope to catch the latest cricket scores between stories; it’s because the Mainstream Corporate Media in America is a miserable failure."
Well, you can try salon.com too. Even for me as an European, I enjoy that site very much.
I couldn’t agree more with the statement above. I seldom watch “American” tv/news ever since I came back from a business trip to Denmark last September and watching BBC! I often catch myself even watching the Spanish news for an in-depth view of what’s going on around the world!
Indeed. I switched off PBS over a year ago, commercial news quite some time before that. Since I hold no love for stick-and-ball sports the added benefit of BBC News is that the thankfully-brief sports segments (cricket? futball? whatever.) are totally incomprehensible to my American experience so they do not engage my brain at all. What a relief.
And when did you ever hear an American politican with the balls – and pipes – of George Galloway? Marvellous presentation even if it is eventually shown to be total BS.
