European Tour 2004

I’ve written here before (e.g., here) about the amazing things I see people doing with Debian and free software around the world, things I and others never could have imagined when we first started doing this.

To learn more, I’m embarking tomorrow on a monthlong “European Tour”. My plans are deliberately vague; my goal is to meet and talk with as many people as possible, to get a firsthand look at what folks are doing, to find out what I can do to help further the community’s efforts, and in particular, to learn something about how Progeny can better connect and get involved with those efforts, e.g., with Componentized Linux.

Thus far, I’m planning to spend time in Madrid, then on to Karlsruhe, Germany to give a keynote at LinuxTag, then on to GUADEC in Kristiansand, Norway, then back to Spain (Mérida and Seville). My travels may also take me to London, Paris, and probably other places as well.

So, if I’m going to be in your neck of the woods (or even if I’m not, I might surprise you), drop me a line. I’d love to meet you and learn about what you are doing, especially if your project is Debian-related, and even more especially if your project relates to building a custom Debian distro. Also, I’m doing this on a very limited budget, so suggestions on cheap travel and lodging in Europe are appreciated, as are offers to let me borrow your floor or couch for a night or give me a ride somewhere.

See you on the flip side.
